I graduated in May 2016 from the New School with a combined degree that included a BA in Interdisciplinary Science and a BFA in Architectural Design from Parsons School of Design. While at Lang, I completed courses in energy, climate change, math, physics, water quality, nanotechnology, genetics, and biotechnology.

I was hand-selected to serve as an undergraduate participant in the 2015 Solar Decathlon which is an international competition to design homes that are sustainable and affordable in a team setting. To help offset this intensive experience with appropriate funding, I was selected as a Hunt Foundation Summer Fellow.  Our team consisted of 40 members that set the stage for the competitive project to design a Solar Home, including 30 engineers from Stevens Institutes, 10 architects, and 3 individuals from NJIT. My unique perspective allowed me to think about energy, natural wildlife, water flows, and physics. In this capacity, I was able to present the work to industry partners, policymakers, and to judges.

At my university, I was an active design leader for African American students on campus, organizing conferences, and completing courses and promoting social justice on campus. My senior thesis in architecture expands these interdisciplinary connections in the reclaiming of a historical church in Gary, Indiana, my hometown, to serve as a community health and science center. I made it to the second round of  Echoing Green Fellowship to tackle pollution absorption through healthy food. I was sought after by the Planning & Redevelopment Department for the City of Gary, COG, for their Americorp partnership. It is here where I previously served as the COG's Planning VISTA from August 2017 to May 2018. I learned the interstices of city government through familiarity with office functions, grant writing, and project management over large city projects to eliminate blight.
